Getting Ready for Move

So much is happening behind the scenes at the Mead Cultural Education Center (MCEC) and our old location by Westside Park. This week, Megan Hansen, Assistant Curator and Move Coordinator, began removing collection pieces from the outside buildings. (Pictured above is the Gunderson Schoolhouse.) This is not only important so we can prepare the items for moving, but also get the buildings moved. Later this fall the seven structures and caboose will begin the relocation process to the MCEC campus. Our design team is working on an exhibit about the history of the Yankton State Hospital. For more information you can check out our website or email Crystal at director@meadbuilding.org. MARK YOUR CALENDARS for our July 5th Feed Your Mind noon program. This installment we welcome the Missouri National Recreation River folks and they will be presenting their film, “River of Change.” Also don’t forget Sunday, July 21, as we host our first-ever Tea At Mead. This fun afternoon tea will feature a Victorian Style Show. Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non-members. For more information contact Heidi at programs@meadbuilding.org. It’s not too late to contribute to the Mead Matter – Parking Lot Campaign. Contact Camille at info@meadbuilding.org or 605-665-3898 if you would like to talk about a contribution. Check out our calendar of events at www.meadbuilding.org, or you can stop out at the Mead Cultural Education Center at 82 Mickelson Drive. Our summer hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm (closed Wednesdays) and Sunday 1pm-5pm. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
