Tea Party At Mead

Tickets are still available for the first-ever Tea at Mead event Sunday, July 21, 2019. This fun afternoon tea, from 2-4pm, will feature a Victorian Style Show hosted by Crystal Nelson. Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non-members. For more information contact Heidi at programs@meadbuilding.org. Our design team is working on an exhibit about the history of the Yankton State Hospital. We are looking for stories from past and present employees as we prepare this exhibit

Working On Exterior

Things are progressing nicely on the verandas at the Mead Cultural Education Center. If you drive by during the week you will see the guys working hard out front. And though we are busy doing work on the exterior please know we are still open on the inside – so stop out and visit. If you don’t have plans for Friday, July 5, come out for Feed Your Mind at noon. Getting Ready for Move

So much is happening behind the scenes at the Mead Cultural Education Center (MCEC) and our old location by Westside Park. This week, Megan Hansen, Assistant Curator and Move Coordinator, began removing collection pieces from the outside buildings. (Pictured above is the Gunderson Schoolhouse.) This is not only important so we can prepare the items for moving, but also get the buildings moved. Later this fall the seven structures and caboose will begin the relocation process
