Advanced Collections Care Training

While work continues at the Mead Building, this week a lot was happening at the Dakota Territorial Museum. Advanced Collections Care training was taking place all week. Tuesday through Friday, conservator Terri Schindel was providing hands-on training with museum collection pieces. Pictured below is Judy Lindy learning the proper way of cleaning a garment with a HepaVac. The participants worked on textiles, documents, books, wood, and many other museum collection pieces. The items were also properly housed for storage in preparation for the move in a couple of years. Training sessions are possible thanks to the IMLS grant the museum received. If you have questions about the project or events you can contact us at the Dakota Territorial Museum at 610 Summit Street (in Westside Park), on Facebook, or call us at 605-665-3898. The museum is open Noon-4pm seven days a week.
