Project Update

Demolition of the old Powerhouse on the former South Dakota Human Services Center campus has begun (shown below). Fortunately, the Mead Building continues to be safe from the demo list thanks to the efforts of so many local and regional supporters of our project. Work continues on the plaster work inside the Mead Building. The Dakota Territorial Museum is looking for volunteers to help get the collections ready for moving. If you are interested, please contact the museum. There are currently two positions available at the museum – a Marketing Coordinator (full time) and Registrar (part-time). You may contact the museum for more information or check out the website at www.meadbuilding.org. If you have questions about the project or events you can contact us at the Dakota Territorial Museum at 610 Summit Street (in Westside Park), on Facebook, or call us at 605-665-3898. The museum is open Noon-4pm seven days a week but will be closed December 24, 25, and 31 and January 1.
