Tuck-pointing the Mead

Tuck-pointing the exterior of the Mead Building continues throughout the summer. This important and time-consuming work improves the exterior of the building by refilling the old mortar, which naturally breaks down over time, between stones. It also adds a cosmetic effect by straightening joints and generally improving the appearance of the stonework. This work can only be done during warm, fair weather, and much of the summer will be dedicated to this and other outdoor projects. We are grateful to the work being provided by trustys from the Yankton Minimum Unit. If you have questions about the project or events please contact us at the Dakota Territorial Museum at 610 Summit Street (in Westside Park), on Facebook, visit our website at www.meadbuilding.org, or call us at 605-665-3898. The museum is open 10 am-5 pm Monday-Friday and noon-4 pm weekends.
