Project Update

Shown below, the plastering in the high foyer area is nearing completion at the Mead Building. Roger Huntley, shown bringing the plaster surface to a shine, has been donating his time and expertise to work with project director Gregg Homstad since December. The intent is to finish plaster and paint work above the main staircase so that the scaffolding can be removed as soon as possible. If you are interested in volunteering at the museum, we have an important training day coming up. On Feb. 13, Crystal Nelson will be conducting basic collections care training for new volunteers, area museum patrons, and anyone interested in learning. Feb. 23-27, conservator Terri Schindel will be conducting more advanced training and working with people in a hands-on setting. The training sessions are possible thanks to the IMLS grant the museum received. . If you have questions about the project or events you can contact us at the Dakota Territorial Museum at 610 Summit Street (in Westside Park), on Facebook, or call us at 605-665-3898. The museum is open Noon-4pm seven days a week.
