East Wing - 2nd Floor Restoration Started!

"The framing and insulation installation has begun for the second floor East Wing at the Mead Cultural Education Center. This wing will eventually hold the exhibit: "The Great Dakota Boom", scheduled to be completed by no later than 2025. The Great Dakota Boom exhibit will tell the history of our area during the 1870's through the early 1900's when all nationalities of settlers and immigrants made their way to the Dakota Territory to purchase land and start their families. This great wave of settlers was assisted with their pursuit of their dream through the Homestead Act and the building of railroads that began to reach the vast Midwest. Many of these settlers have descendents that are continuing to choose Yankton County as the place to make their homes and raise their families!"
