Secrets from the Mead

Occasionally we find a surprise while working in the Mead Building. Over many years items have been tucked away and long forgotten. This week workers onsite looked into a generally inaccessible area over a vaulted ceiling and came away with a few treasures. Inside the walls someone had hidden away part of a letter, a box of chocolates, and a tangle of wires, possibly an improvised radio antenna. The letter is dated 1913, so it has most likely been over 100 years since these items were last seen. Come see the progress on the restoration at our Open House, which will be May 9 and 10 from 1-4 pm both days. If you have questions about the project or events please contact us at the Dakota Territorial Museum at 610 Summit Street (in Westside Park), on Facebook, visit our website at www.meadbuilding.org, or call us at 605-665-3898. The museum is open Noon-4pm seven days a week.
